The one-size-fits-all 'affordable' doesn't actually mean you have the ability to pay for it. It is a false qualifier for anyone outside the factored chart and scale demographic used to create the assumption.
When an item costs $10 and your wallet holds $1, the item is unaffordable. If the landlord increases your rent to $1000 and you have only $800 for housing, you need to get a new place!!
